My grandmother who lives in California (ie not the French one who lives with us) called the other day to ask if we had gotten the book she sent me. I was surprised that she had sent me something and curious as to what it could be. My brother jibed that it might be a book on plastic surgery before 21 as my grandmother is obsessed with plastic surgery (she's had at least 4 procedures).
The "book" arrived today. It wasn't a book, but a catalog from Anthropologies (a cool if overpriced store) Attached to it was a note:
Briana,
This is what your "progressive" grandmother thinks you should be wearing-you can only do this once when you are young (now). You would look "cool" in most of these outfits-tell your father to look at this magazine!!!
Luv
Nanny
p.s. missing pages are home furnishings
Well, at least she was thinking of me??? I really don;t have the energy to write about my reaction to this, but I suppose it goes along with my grandmother (ex: at the wedding she barely acknowledged my dress but told me I should have worn higher heels, she lectured me once about the wonders of plastic surgery etc.)
